About OutfitRating
OutfitRating is a free website that tells you whether an outfit works, from a photo. You upload a picture of the whole look, and you get a score from 0 to 100, a one-line verdict, and the one swap that would improve it most.
How the score works
The score is built from three parts. Color looks at how the colors of the pieces sit together. Proportion looks at how the length, volume and shape of the pieces balance against each other. Occasion looks at whether the formality and the season of the pieces agree. A score of 80 or more is a Great match, 60 to 79 is One tweak away, and 59 or below Needs a swap.
You can add a second photo. It can be a single piece you are unsure about, such as shoes, a bag or a jacket, or a second outfit worn by the same person, which are compared against each other.
What it never does
- It judges the clothes only. It never comments on anyone's body, face, size or weight.
- It does not pick colors by skin tone.
- It does not tell you to go and buy something, and it does not name brands. Every swap is a change you can make with what is already in the photo.
The guides
The guides on the blog explain the same three questions behind the score, with clothing examples you can try from your own closet, so they are useful without the tool.
